As a result, bathing during Janaipurnima purges the souls of various sins. The Hindus believe that the lake is connected to Lord Shiva and that all of the Hindu deities descend to the lake during this festival. Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda serve as the central lakes among the more than 108 smaller ones that can be seen here. The Trishuli River is created when the lake melts. Additionally, the River stays frozen for six months during the winter.

The place Gosaikunda is a pilgrimage for the Hindus and Buddhists, believed to be created by Lord Shiva with his Trishul. During Janaipurnima festival thousands of pilgrims from Nepal and India visit Gosaikunda. The holy glacial lake of gosaikunda is designed for those who want to feel alpine zone and experience Himalayan and classic mountain treks.

The Gosainkunda trek is rated as being moderately difficult. It passes through Langtang National Park, which is home to a variety of wildlife and flora, such as rhododendron forests, monkeys, and different bird species. You will pass through a number of traditional Tamang and Sherpa villages along the trail. Similar to this, there are parts of the trail that climb and descend and include rocky, steep terrain.

Best season to visit

In terms of weather and convenience, the Gosainkunda Trek is best done in the spring and fall. The best seasons for trekking in all of Nepal are spring and fall. In a similar vein, the days are bright, the heat is intense, and the nights are cool. Above all, there’s a good chance you’ll fall in love with the Gosainkunda region’s blessed charm. This ultimately implies that each season is specifically designed to be experienced on this specific trekking route. While the monsoon and summer months provide breathtaking views of the mountains, the paths can be treacherous and occasionally landslides obstruct the trekking route.

Altitude sickness

Altitude sickness can strike anyone trekking the Gosainkunda Trek, even though it is extremely unlikely if you are starting from sea level. It could be challenging for your body to adapt to the higher altitudes. You might experience symptoms like headaches, nausea, dyspnea, elevated heart rate, and uneasiness while ascending. Additionally, if the symptoms last longer than expected, your body may not have been able to withstand the altitude change. In the event that you experience these symptoms, kindly inform your group and guide. You will receive first aid right away from your guide.

Permits for trekking

Gosainkunda is located in Langtang regions. So to trek in the Langtang region, you will need to obtain two different permits. They are:

  • Langtang National Park entry permits.
  • Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) cards.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is required for any trek in Nepal, including the Gosainkunda trekking. Make sure your travel insurance includes coverage for unexpected emergencies and high-altitude trekking when purchasing it. You can also get coverage of other activities such as mountaineering, hiking, and adventure sports. In the case of an unplanned accident, it can provide you with financial security and peace of mind.

Guide and Porter

Hiking with a qualified, experienced trekking guide is always a good idea. They always have first aid supplies, gear, and other necessary safety equipment with them. They excel at performing safely. “All trekkers are required to obtain services of a licensed trekking guide and to obtain TIMS card through authorized trekking agencies registered with the government of Nepal,” states the Nepal Tourism Board.

Thus, you are welcome to work with us to hire a very skilled, kind, and amiable licensed guide who speaks English and has guide insurance. We guarantee that, without sacrificing security, our guide will assist you in making the most of your precious time.

Foods and Accommodation

A staple dish of Nepali cuisine is dal bhat, a curry made with organic, healthful fresh green vegetables. Meals are served at tea shops and lodges; they are typically a combination of western and Nepalese cuisine. Since all of the food will be prepared by a local chef using vegetables from the area, it will have a very distinctive flavor.

Our guide will select the best teahouse/lodge for you to stay at during the trek based on availability of rooms and their experience. A twin-share room with just a bed, a pillow, blankets, and mattresses will be available at the teahouse.
