The village of Ghorepani, located in central Nepal, was once known as a “Goth Camp,” or a location for all the cow sheds. At the time, no one from the area lived there. They were residents of Khiban, a village immediately below Ghorepani Poon Hill. Before the small village became a trekking route like most of the main trails in Nepal, it was a salt trade route.
Approximately 200 kilometers northwest of Kathmandu, the charming town of Pokhara is the starting point of the Poon Hill Trek, also called the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek. Poon Hill is a short hike in Nepal’s Gandaki province that is situated at an elevation of 3210 meters on the boundary between the Myagdi and Kaski districts. It is a hill station with views of the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna Massif ranges. To take in the breathtaking views of the sunrise, most visitors arrive here early in the morning. The Ghorepani Poon hill trek’s main viewpoint is this lookout. The best mountain views of your life can be found at Poon Hill, which is easily reached after a leisurely hour of hiking from Ghorepani.
Significantly, in comparison to other higher-altitude treks in Nepal, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a reasonably easy trek. One of the best and fastest hikes, it offers stunning views of towering snow-capped peaks and lovely rural treks. You’ll have ample time to explore the nearby towns and hills, learn about their long-standing customs, and observe their cultures.
