Recently, we witnessed a heartwarming example of this philosophy in action when a group of generous tourists trekking with us contributed to the betterment of education in one of Nepal’s most remote areas.
A Gesture of Kindness in the Hills
During one of our treks, our travelers (Mrs. Yap Piek Wan, Mr. Wong Yoon Ming, Mr. Soon Su Ming, and Mrs. Chong Mee Fah) from Malaysia and the managing Director of our company Mr. Ramesh Bajgain as a guide carried more than just their backpacks and adventurous spirits. They brought along essential educational supplies such as pencils, markers, notebooks, pens, and other materials. These items were donated to a school (Shree Chandeshwori Aadharbhut Vidhyalaya) located in a very rural region of Nepal on 12 November, 2024; where access to basic educational resources is a daily challenge.
The students of this school come from low-caste and economically disadvantaged families. Despite their challenging circumstances, they exhibit immense enthusiasm for learning. The donated materials have significantly helped improve their learning environment, providing them with tools that are often taken for granted in more privileged areas.
Why This Matters
Education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, especially in marginalized communities. However, in many rural areas of Nepal, schools lack even the most basic supplies, making it difficult for students to fully engage in their studies.
