Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek

Highlights

Dhaulagiri Circuit Trek is related with the seventh-highest mountain in the world, Dhaulagiri (8167 m / 26795 ft), is the only peak entirely contained within the boundaries of a single nation (Nepal). In 1809, Captain William Webb became the first European to see Mount Dhaulagiri. The Sanskrit term Dhaulagiri means “mountain,” and the word “Dhawala” means “dazzling, white, beautiful.”

Another name for Dhaulagiri is the White Mountain. It is located approximately 40 miles northwest of Annapurna on the western bank of the profound Kali Gandaki River George. In the Myagdi District, it is the sixth-highest peak in Nepal. With time to acclimate before taking on the high passes, the circuit trail winds through towns and terraced farmland, alongside rivers and gorges, and alongside glaciers and moraines. As a result, there are many opportunities to enjoy the breathtaking mountain views.

There is a wide range of plants and animals in this area. There are rhododendron varieties, ferns, tinny alpine flowers, oak and other deciduous tree forests, and juniper forests. Likewise, this area is home to some of Nepal’s most exquisite plant and animal life. Many endangered species have been reported to live in this region; among the most talked-about sights among tourists are the elusive snow leopard and the danphe bird. One of the few real wilderness areas in Nepal that is open to trekkers is this location.

Best Season to Trek on Dhaulagiri

Any time of year is a good time to go trekking in Nepal. However, the various seasons offer you distinct travel experiences. There are four distinct seasons in Nepal: spring, monsoon, autumn, and winter. Nonetheless, spring and autumn are regarded as the ideal seasons for Dhaulagiri trekking. The temperature is moderate, the sky is clear, and the views of the mountains are breathtaking. The surroundings are pleasant because the forests are tidy, green, and full of different wildflowers. It’s time to restore nature’s inherent beauty. However, you can also go on treks in the winter and during the monsoon. But during these seasons, it can be both thrilling and challenging.

Foods and Accommodations

To put it simply, Dhaulagiri trekking is a camp trek, with most trekkers spending the night in camps. As you climb higher up, there are no lodges or tea houses available. You’ll need to prepare camps and tents. The porters, who have received extensive cooking training, will prepare the meals. You can find tea houses and hotels up until Pakoban. If desired, you can have a private room there, or you can use the space to share with your teammates.

Guide and Porters

“All trekkers are required to obtain the services of a licensed trekking guide and to obtain a TIMS card through authorized trekking agencies registered with the government of Nepal,” according to the Nepal Tourism Board.

Technically proficient, our guides and porters always have the necessary supplies, first aid kits, and safety equipment on hand. Our top priority is keeping you safe. Therefore, we guarantee that you are in good hands and that your trip to Nepal will be enjoyable to the fullest.

Altitude Sickness

It is typical in mountains that are higher than 3,000 meters above sea level. It usually happens when you accelerate your ascent to a high altitude. A few of the symptoms are as follows: headache, lightheartedness, appetite loss, dyspnea, and so on; the following are the preventive measures:

  • Make sure you’re drinking enough water.
  • Stop and rest where you are.
  • Do not smoke, drink alcohol, or exercise.
  • Eating foods and drinking fluids that contain carbs.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is required for any trek in Nepal. Read the insurance documentation carefully and familiarize yourself with the coverage before making a purchase. Make sure it includes high altitude trekking, emergency, hiking, mountaineering, and adventure sports when making a purchase. You can have financial security and peace of mind with travel insurance in case of an unplanned accident.
